My name is Lei and I come from China. When I was young, I had a dream; it was dream of a western life. So I tried to go to the USA, Canada and the UK. Finally on 9th September 2003, I got visa to the UK.
On 9th September 2003 I arrived the UK.
First I lived a big town called Bournemouth. I was a student in the English 2000 School. At that time, my English was very bad. The teacher said many things that I didn't understand, in the classroom often I was crying. I thought how long will it be before I understand everything.
Then, I got my first job in the University of Bournemouth. When I went to work, my manager said many things I didn't understand and then she said: "My god", only this word I understood.
Secondly, after 3 month I got a new job, I went to a small city called Wells in Somerset. My workmate told me why this place is a city, because it has a big cathedral. It is 700 years old, it is a beautiful church. In front the church, we took some photos. I miss Wells.
Finally, on April 2004, I moved to a small town called Penzance in West Cornwall. Until now I have lived here 2 years. During this time I got a good job, I have got nice teachers, also I have got kind friends and neighbours.
I feel very confident now. I like living here. Whenever I go back to my country, I will miss here, because this was my dream.
