Boys enjoying an entertainment in the hostel in Windermere, Westmorland (Cumbria). Part of the group known as 'The Boys', survivors of the Holocaust who were brought to Britain in 1945, under the auspices of the 'Central British Fund' and the 'Committee for the Care of Children from the Concentration Camps'. They were lodged at hostel in Windermere between August 1945 and January 1946, where they were taught English, and given rehabilitation. The dining hall served as the assembley hall with a large stage and cinema screen. |
