The congregants, Rabbi and Cantor of the Philpot Street Great Synagogue, London E1, at the beginning of the Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) 'Kol Nidre' evening service. Popularly known as the Great White Fast. The Rabbi and Hazan (Cantor) are dressed in the traditional white, and the tallit (prayer shawl) is worn by all men - the only time in the year for an evening service - this being the holiest day of the year. |
