Downloading Resources from Moving Here

Most of the Digitised resources on the Moving Here site are available as Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) files. To read PDF files you will need the Acrobat Reader which is available free of charge from Adobe's website at www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. Acrobat reader is available for most browsers and platforms.

You can select text and graphics from your PDF document and paste them into other files. You should remember that the images are supplied for research purposes and are for your personal use, not for publication. To download film clips which are WMV format, it is suggested you visit the Windows Media Player download page at www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default and install the latest version of Windows Media Player.

Download Times

We try to keep file sizes to a minimum, however sometimes a large item will be digitised which cannot be split into smaller parts. This will result in a large file size. Download times depend on the speed of your connection to the internet and your ISP, but the following table should give you a rough guide:
