Joseph Rosenberg, here photographed in 1915 with the West Yorkshire Regiment, took his peace-time occupation with him when he went in to the army, acting as the regimental tailor. 'Pals' battalions' were a feature of World War One, where men who lived or worked in the same community joined up together.
