A duplicate copy of a passport issued in Bombay (now Mumbai) in India in 1932 to a widow working as an ayah. She is described as the "private servant of Mrs HR Rowan" and was probably a nanny for Mrs Rowan's children. In slightly flowery language the passport states in the name of the Viceroy and Governor-General (the British governor of India at the time) that she "may be allowed to pass freely without let or hindrance" and that she be given "every assistance and protection of which she may stand in need."
