Tennis party

Four members of the Tottenham Jewish Tennis Club from north London pose for a photograph on the beach at Bournemouth during a trip to the seaside in 1937. They wear white shirts and long trousers and stand against a background of small canvas huts which were used as changing rooms. Two years later the beach huts were being replaced with barbed wire as Britain prepared to defend itself against the threat of invasion after war was declared in 1939.
