Beatrice, Ethel, and Dorothy, three of the 12 children of Lewis and Hannah Levy in a photograph taken in the 1890s showing the type of elaborate outfits worn by Victorian middle-class children. Beatrice was born in 1889, Ethel in 1894 and Dorothy in 1888. The Levy family lived in Bow Road, east London until 1896 when they moved to Finchley Road, in the Swiss Cottage area of north London. Judging from the apparent age of the youngest child, the picture was taken around the time of the move to Swiss Cottage.
