| Lord Kitchener (HJR) HJR 1 An extract from Lord Kitchener's 1948 calypso hit 'London is the place for me'. Lord Kitchener was born Aldwyn Roberts in 1922 in Trinidad and had a long and successful career both as a performer and as a recording artist. While in England, Lord Kitchener lived in Manchester where he briefly owned a nightclub. In 1962 he returned to Trinidad where he remained until his death in 2000. |
