Immigrants, including the Irish, should appear on the census. For information about census records please follow the link. Great efforts were made by the authorities to ensure that immigrants completed the forms, although normally only the country of their birth (and not the town or province) is included. Because of language difficulties many names are not accurately recorded and so looking for an immigrant ancestor in the census may require persistence and an open mind.
