  • Events can be registered up to six weeks after they took place. If your birth was in late March - look in the April-June register as well.
  • Spelling of surnames can vary, so look for variants, that is, Heyward, Hayward, Heywood, Ayward, etc.
  • First names can also vary. Somebody registered with a certain forename may never have been called it.
  • If you can't find the event, look in registers for previous and subsequent quarters and years.
  • If you know where the event took place you might try looking at local parish registers to see whether there was a christening, wedding or funeral recorded.
