* Joining a Family History Class

Another way to learn more about family history is by joining a class run by a local adult education centre, a Workers Educational Association (WEA) or University of the Third Age (U3A) branch, where you can learn both from the tutor and the experiences of your fellow students. Most courses are very informal and expect no prior knowledge. Your local library can tell you about courses in your area, and there may be details on a local, adult college web site. More about the U3A can be found at *www.u3a.org.uk and the WEA at *www.wea.org.uk.

The Society of Genealogists run regular lectures, courses and workshops in London and the Institure of Heraldic and Geneaological studies runs correspondence courses as well as other day and residential sessions from its base in Canterbury.
