The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) has a vast library of publications and copies of original records which are useful for people tracing their Caribbean roots. For example they have microfilm copies of civil registration returns, church registers, probate registries, military records, members' family histories and published histories, resource guides and genealogies. The LDS has indexed many millions of birth, baptismal and marriage entries from parish registers and submitted entries by their members. These have been published as the International Genealogical Index (IGI) and Vital Records listings. The IGI includes a section for the Caribbean but most entries for Anglo-Caribbean countries currently relate to Barbados; but it is being continuously added to. They also have many other computerised and online resources. All of these can be seen at their Family History Centres, which if not housed there can be ordered for a nominal donation. The IGI and other resources are available on their Creators: Guy Grannum | ||||||
