The National Archives only holds passenger lists for ships that departed from, or arrived at, UK ports. Many West Indians migrated to other countries especially in the Americas. Passenger lists may survive in the country of departure and the country of arrival. For example, passenger lists to the USA from 1820 are held by: The National Archives and Records Administration National Archives Building 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20408 Between 1892 and 1924 some 22 million passengers and ships' crews arrived at Ellis Island and the Port of New York, many thousand of whom were West Indians. Index to passenger lists for this period, together with images of most lists is at The National Archives of Canada 395 Wellington Street Ottawa Ontario K1A 0N3 Creators: Guy Grannum | ||||||
