| Records of the Foreign Office | ||||||
Records relating to West Indian migration and settlement in non-British countries can be found in the Foreign Office (FO) series. The records of the Foreign Office start in 1782 and there are three types of archives: general correspondence, embassy and consular archives, and consular archives. The Foreign Office and Commonwealth Office merged in October 1967 and the records of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office are in FCO series in the National Archives. These are arranged by broad geographical regions and subject series; for example, records relating to West Indian migration are in FCO 50 in the Migration and Visa Department. Before 1782 the records are in SP series, arranged by country. Creators: Guy Grannum | ||||||
