The East India Company's correspondence with the government departments is held at the National Archives, in Kew, Richmond, Surrey. The government departments are:

  • The Admiralty
  • Board of Trade
  • Colonial Office
  • Foreign Office
  • Home Office
  • Privy Council Office
  • Treasury
  • War Office
  • State Paper Office
The National Archives has a wealth of information on Asian immigrants and, occasionally, it holds some duplicate copies of the correspondence from the India Office records.
