Jews' Temporary Shelter, London

The Jews' Temporary Shelter was founded by Hermann Landau in 1885 to provide a refuge for the many hundreds of migrants from Eastern Europe. A careful record was kept of all who came to the shelter in registers and some of these appear here.

Do not feel disappointed if you do not find exactly what you are looking for because these are only examples of what you could find. Feel free to have a go and search the Catalogue for yourself ... this is only the tip of the iceberg!
