Gandhi and Indian independenceThese British Library documents and photographs from the 1920s onwards demonstrate the gathering pace of Mahatma Gandhi's movement for Indian independence. Greater London Council press releasesThe Greater London Council (GLC) was established in 1965 and abolished in 1986. These press releases dating from the 1970s show the council's concern for migrant communities and the difficulties they faced in a city which, as one press release says 'has welcomed and absorbed thousands of people from other countries' (GLC/DG/PRB/35/027/0279). Greater London Council postersThese posters from the former GLC show the huge range of cultural and educational events available in London in the 1970s and 1980s. |
