The Vale and Downland Museum was opened in 1983 and refurbished with an HLF grant in 1999. It is housed in a converted 16th century cloth merchant's house with modern extensions and a reconstructed barn. It is a registered charitable trust and depends greatly on volunteers to cover most roles. The displays of the museum present the ecology, archaeology and history of the Vale and Downland area of Oxfordshire, with an emphasis on Wantage and its surrounding villages.
Included in the Moving Here catalogue are film clips from BBC Windrush programme and images of South Asian shops in England.
For more information see the Wantage museum website at www.wantage.com/museum
