LMA is the largest local authority archive in the UK. It holds over 32 miles of archives, maps, plans, prints, photographs and books primarily relating to the history of London. Archives held include local government bodies such as the Greater London Council, the London and Middlesex County Councils and the Metropolitan Board of Works. There are also the Middlesex Sessions of the Peace records - judicial and administrative - dating from 1549. Records of Parishes, the Poor Law, businesses, charities, and courts are all strongly represented. LMA is a major place of deposit for Anglo-Jewish records, and we have archives of over 100 London hospitals. There is a 100,000 volume reference library, also focused on the history of London. If you are interested in the history of London and Londoners, LMA is the place to explore.
Included in the Moving Here catalogue are Jews' Free school admission and discharge records and Greater London Council records.
