The Jewish Museum, London (JML)

The Jewish Museum opens a window onto the history and religious life of the Jewish community in Britain and beyond. Operating on two sites, it is an important educational and cultural resource for London.

The Museum in Camden Town houses a collection of ceremonial art that is Designated as being of outstanding national importance, and a History gallery tracing the story of the Jewish community in Britain from the Norman Conquest to recent times. The social history collections are located in Finchley, and include a wide range of artefacts and documents reflecting the diverse roots and heritage of Jews in Britain, with particularly strong holdings from the Jewish East End. There is also a photographic archive, and an oral history archive. Holocaust Education is a major feature of the museum's work, with a permanent display about a London-born Auschwitz survivor, Leon Greenman.

Both sites have a lively programme of temporary exhibitions and events.

Included in the Moving Here catalogue are Jews' Free school registers and records on Kindertransport.

Currently working with Moving Here to create National Curriculum material for launch in early 2007.
