The collections of the Imperial War Museum are unique in their comprehensiveness; no other Museum in the world has similar breadth of material covering all aspects of twentieth century conflict and beyond. There are major displays at the five branches of the Museum, at IWM London, at the Cabinet War Rooms in Whitehall, on board HMS Belfast moored beside Tower Bridge, outside London at IWM Duxford, IWM North at Trafford, Manchester and now includes the new Churchill museum.
Besides the exhibits and art collections there are substantial archives of documents, film, photographs and sound recordings. They offer an enormously rich source of material on the nature of war and the response of the individual.
Included in the Moving Here catalogue are photographs of soldiers from the Carribean, Irish and South Asian communities.
